I just got a new Gateway Laptop (3520GZ) out of the box, but when i plug a USB device in (mouse, flash memory, printer), i get a USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED message.

In the Hardware Manager it only appears as UNKNOWN DEVICE (no yellow "!" or "?" signs appear).

XP recognizes almost any deviced i've ever plugged in, so there must be something wrong with the driver library or something like that.

    Any ideas?

Does windows device manager recognize the usb ports themselves? Without any usb devices plugged in is evrything ok with the ports themselves?

The ports are recognized... i've read a lot of posts over the internet with similar problems, relating it with Service Pack 2.

Have you heard anything about it?

Gateway responds fast but they don't know a thing... they keep trying to convince me it's the device...

Sorry couldn't tell you about personal experience with sp2 as I refuse for now to install it.
