    I have a compaq running windows me...everytime I reformat I have to re-install the ethernet adapter driver,,,although I do not remember how to install the driver...I have the driver on disk..but don't know where to install it...any help would be appreciated..thanks

    Mate you are giving very little info but let's give it a try by following some simple steps first:

    The driver hou have is an executable file? If yes just run it and it will do the job...

    Or it's in a file like D:/drivers/windows/Me or something similar?
    In that case open control panel/system/hardware/device manager. There you should be able to locate your lan adapter. It will be shown with a yellow mark next to it and it should be called something like unknown network device or something similar. Right click on it and click on update driver. If you are prompted to connect to the internet click no. Then select to install the driver from a specific location and use the location path where the driver is on your cd! Let it search, I hope it would do the job.

    I do not remember exactly how the interface in win98/Me is so what i told you comes from XP. But the overall proccess is quite the same and you will be able to figure things out easily.
