Why do you need to reformat so much?

Normally, you plug in the adapter, the computer then askes you to insert the disk that has the drive.

However, it might be better to download the latest version of the drive from the manufacturer's web site.

I got it working..thanks....but the reason I have to re-format more than I should...are my two teenagers...they download junk after junk....and then don't understand why the computer is so slow....

Get a partition imager that can take a "snapshot" of your system as you want it. You can then restore your system in a few minutes when needed.

Or get DeepFreeze and fix it so they can't make any permanent changes at all.

Another thing might be to buy an external drive and configure things such that all downloaded material are stroed on the exteranl drive.

You are in DESPERATE need of an image backup utility!

For boot image backups, Acronis True Image, available at NewEgg for $30 downloaded, search for Acronis.
