its possible there may not be drivers available
are the drivers on the manufacturers website at all ? - see here http://support.gateway.com/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=3146 - gateway detection , but all the drivers are for XP and NOT windows 7

where did you get the windows 7 from

    would you run
    Windows Validation
Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:
    • Download MGADiag to your desktop.
    • Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
    • Click "Continue"
    • Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
    • Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
    • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

i think you will need to see if windows update find the drivers as none are listed for that machine
if you go into device manager and find the items marked with a ! or ? right click and update - use windows update - problem will be if the network adapters are not working and you cannot get online

post a device manager here with all the screen shots for ! or ?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    {Device Manager}
Post back the results in device manager
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
    windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager

network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
    are there any ! ? or X

post a screen shot of the device manager - network adapters

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here

lets see if we can identify the hardware - unless you already Know the exact make and exact model from XP -

right click on the device with a yellow!
    Properties
    Click on the Details Tab
    Under Property - drop down
    Select hardware ids
    Right click and select all.
Then right click again and select copy.
    Copy and paste that here.

The Hardware ID's. VEN & DEV. Look them up here.
