    Hi

I have Win 2000 which keeps asking me for drivers on startup for a CD Rom and Ethernet controller which I keep reinstalling and Device Manager says they are ok, but on every restart, it asks for the drivers again.

    I'm puzzled

Try getting the special drivers that come with the OS for doing a clean install of the OS. They usually come on one of the recovery disks and are for the chipset, buss, network, audio, video and others and have to be installed right after the install. You can get these drivers either from the manufacturers web site for the computer or the motherboard.
