I had dropped my seagate external hard drive and got the clicks ,after many tears over lost data I had decided to see what happened . Looks like the arm that hovers over the disc has small wires soldered to it and because the solder points are so small and delicate one of them broke away -the disc with the data ,thinking of it like a dvd , is probably still intact and data is still there but the sensor cannot read it . looks impossible to resolder but the disc could maybe somehow be removed and put into another unit or the arm may be replaced , decided to just destroy it and get another drive .I would suggest getting an estimate to recover from a professional and see if it is worth it. I had all my iTunes stuff on it and was able to redownload everything from Apple .Pretty unstable design if you ask me .Thanks again China. I am an auto mechanic and have seen many faulty chinese parts .We all want cheap and we get it -profit margins seem to be over quality these days. Good luck everyone and get that drive checked for recovery it might go your way. Kenrtr
