    Hey guys, back again lol

I am having trouble booting into Vista. I can boot into XP MCE 2005 fine, but when I try and boot to Vista the screen just goes blank and nothing happens or it freezes at the select operating system screen and I have to hard reset.

Here is a copy of my boot.ini file:
Windows Vista is on my C: drive, Windows XP is on my E: drive, and all my data is on my D: drive. It is all a single hard drive that is partitioned. Windows Vista and XP both have their own partitions of the same size, 40GB. The data partition is 220GB in size.

I have tried changing Vista's partition number in the boot.ini with no avail. I have tried 0, 1, and 2. When I try 1 and 2 the screen either goes blank or it freezes at the OS select. When I use 0, it goes to a different screen and says I am missing system32/hal.dll, please install the missing file.

I have also tried changing the commands after the "Microsoft Windows Vista" in the boot.ini. I have tried /fastdetect and /noexecute=optin and both together and it still won't work.

I have also tried replacing the whole Vista boot line with
but it still did not boot.

It DOES show it in the operating system selection menu in all of these cases, but it just freezes or shows the hal.dll error when I actually press Enter.

I want to be able to boot into Vista, any suggestions or fixes?

    Thanks in advance!
