My brother just built a new computer, but didn't have the monitor keyboard, and all the accessories so he copied our old computers hd to his and then put his computer where the old one was. The thing is the old computer has a bunch of crap my mom uses and just isn't really that stable anymore. So he want's to have his own version of win98 with just the stuff he want's so it will run better. We tried to install win98 on another partition but the setup said "This operating system is already installed" or something like that. I searched google but couldn't find anything on this subject. Can this be done?

Nope, not with win98, it doesn't have a boot manager and even if it did it couldn't be installed on the same partition.

You may want to check this out, it may or may not work, not sure, casper03 found this when he was having a dual booting problem.
But I can't find if it will work with two of the same os

He has two seperate partitions, even when he chooses to install the second version of win98 on d:\windows it gives him the error about already being installed. As for the boot manager we have Partion Magics' Boot magic for that. He has windows XP installed right now but it keeps on randomly restarting while we play baldurs gate over the network, I think he would stick with XP if it would quit restarting. Only restarts while we play over the network so probably a driver problem with the NIC. I'll have to check into that with him.
