Can I install a dual boot with XP pro already installed? Microsoft sez to install 2000 first. I would rather not remove xp if not necessary.

Well, from my experience, I installed Windows 2000 on a different partition and it screwed the boot sequence. But when I installed Windows XP over itself, it was fine again.

I guess it's luck

Yes, you can install win2k after xp. In order to do this, you will need to repair the boot sector of the boot drive. This can be done manually or by a repair install of xp. I am on a hotel computer so I do not have the list of files that need to be copied to do a manual repair. The other option [repair install of xp] requires you to reapply service pack 1, all updates, patches, and hot fixes.
