I know this sound realy ignorant, but does the second workstation need to have a video card, or does it go through the "Main" PC's dual vid card?

I'm building a second workstation just for video rendering, so that I can continue to work while rendering is happening, and am planning to use a dual monitor kvm.

Thanks as always.

Yes the second PC needs a video card or else you won't be able to see whats on the screen when its booting up and to make it actually render. The KVM portion just lets you switch the monitors and periphrials between the 2 PC's it doesn't let you combine the 2 PC's into one.
