I'm still having trouble with a dull and dark display.I have checked all the usual settings and tested the monitor and video card and still no answers. It's almost impossible to play games unless the brightness and contrast is maxed.I've played with everything to do with colours that I know about and again nothing. It happened all of a sudden after a "guest" was using it and he doesn't know what he did?Can someone help?

Maybe check to see if there is a driver update or better driver?

In the past if I've had trouble with peripherals, I would uninstall/reinstall. I've never uninstalled a CRT while it was in use. It's funny because I imagined the screen going blank. Anyone else ever done this? I guess you could shutdown with Ctrl>alt>del.

How old is your monitor? Maybe it's gettin' old like me. Could be just a coincidence that your "guest" was using it. Sometimes they go bad quickly.

    Hiya

Which version of DirectX do you have? Go to Run and type DXDIAG. In the first tab will be the version.
Also, go to Display, and see if all are Enabled. Plus, try the tests.

What is your video card? Go to Control Panel | System. Device Manager
Under Display will be your card. Rightclick, and choose Properties, then Driver tab. Whats the version?

Also, which version of Windows are you running?

    Regards

Try going here and downloading the enhanced gamma corrector.
It really does a good job. I had the same problem with a Rage II,
but I even use this with my Geforce 4.... It's just what you need.

Powerstrip loaded up fine and I thought for a moment it was going to be OK...Then it laughed at me more or less and replied after reboot that there was a AGS error(you know the drill by now...does not support gamma ramps)...I think my driver couldn't support itself...I need more help?
