Sometimes when I try to run an MS-DOS based program, such as a Qbasic program, It runs realllllly slowly and causes many other effects on my comp (such as the start menu unrolling) to move insanely slow for the duration of my computer session, the only way to speed them up again is to reboot.

I probably have a setting wrong somewhere, as I never used to have this problem at all. What's going on?

DOS programs aren't made for XP really... try right clicking the game.exe and go to properties and change it so it is in capability mode.
