duplicate icons in control panel

um in my control panel it has 3 duplicates of network connections icons, and 4 duplicates of phone and modem icons, and 2 duplicates of system icons its weird dont now how they got there and cant delet them. :crying: could someone explain why its done this and how it happend and how to get rid of it.

vy the way thats not all the icons theres more the pic would be to big to fit so yer

Two things possibly you can do:

1) All the Control Panel applets are files with the .CPL filetype and are
located in your \WINDOWS\system32 folder.

Take a look there and you should find them all and (maybe) see a duplicate
that can be deleted.

2) download Tweak UI
This PowerToy gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings, and more.

you may have to google it but theres a way to delete duplicates using this free program

Take a look at the .cpl files in the System32 folder and delete any duplicates (or just in case, rename the dupes from .cpl to .old).

If it happens again post back.
