My dvd burner used to work, until the other day. Now every time i try and burn it just fails. I use nero, but tried alcohol and it failed with that also. I've tried dvd's and cd's...no luck...no idea why it stopped...

Alcohol left a log, which is posted below.

To bad it doesn't show the drives firmware revision on that log..

OK, here's the deal... Updating the firmware may solve the problem, but, it needs to be handled carefully.. If something goes wrong when your updating the firmware, it may kill the drive.

    Your firmware is available here.
    http://www.cdfreaks.com/drive/589

You might also try different media.

I know nero said the firmware was 2.16... and i have 2 different types of dvd-r's that it fails with, only one type of cd tho. It worked on a cd-rw, and usually works if i am copying a cd, not buring off an image.

I'll try out the firmware, if that doesnt fix it, i might have to replace it at newegg... dont want to though... it was working fine a couple days ago...

Edit: The dvd brands are , Memorex and Fujifilm. Neither are listed in the brandlist but they worked before...

    Ok updated...burned one dvd successfully(fuji dvd-r)... failed 2(memorex dvd+r)...

is there a reason y the memorex dvd+r worked before and now they just seem to fail?
