I tried to burn a DVD on my laptop and got an error message: "A DVD burner was not found. Make sure a dvd burner is connected and installed, and then try again."

I have burned DVDs on the same computer previously. I don't know what changed. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    David

Go to Device Manager and see if the drive shows up there, and if it does if it lists an error.

To get to Device Manager double click on the System icon in Control Panel, choose the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager.

    Yes it shows an error.

Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

Any ideas as to what to do about Code 37?

    Thanks,

I opened the link you sent me. I wanted to clarify that I am using Vista not XP. The link suggested that it was for XP only. Also the code referenced in the link was Code 31 not 37. I just want to make sure.

    Thanks,

    David

The same applies to Vista and code 37.
