O/S:Windows XP Home: My Sony DVD/CD Drive comes back with error code when I want to record: "Cannot write to disk error (qual.0x00)". I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it to no avail. It appears in Device Manager and has no yellow marks beside it, and it is enabled. I have tried microsoft knowledge base, they can't find this particular code.
    Help!

Hi and welcome. This may sound like a silly question, but, is it a burner too or just a reader?

    It is a DVD/CD R/W (reader/writer)
I tried a method posted on this forum, which entails editing the registry, and now i have no keyboard or mouse control; things are just getting worse.
    Cheers/Thanks

What did you try? I hope you have your Windows recovery cd handy.

I have a whole lot of other issues right now, since installing Windows SP 3; these issues I have also addressed with Microsoft Support; the Windows XP CD will not load or reboot the machine; the mouse does not work, nor the keyboard, so I cannot boot into safe mode or any other troubleshooting mode.
    Thanks/Cheers
