I've only had this laptop for maybe a month or so, and the damned drive is starting to give me problems with reading CDs.
I've some program called the Acoustic Silencer, that I'm making a blind assumption may be causing the problem. Either that or its time to take this pup in, but I don't feel like calling in on the warranty yet.
And I don't like the idea of a program that slows my cd speed to make it more "comfortable" to listen to music and watch dvds.
I agree with your comment regarding slowing audio and video. You can temporarily end the process "TOSCDSPD.exe" in Task Manager to see if that clears it up. If that works, uninstall it in Device Manager.

Additionally, if it isn't too much trouble, I've been told that most of my drivers -must- be obtained from Toshiba's Support site, but I'm a bit doubtful of the neccesity of that.
Can I infact, use drivers from the Nvidia site? Also would you happen to know if there were any drivers for my Mobo? Thanks alot btw.
You can usually use drivers from other sites if they support the same hardware (I recently installed chipset drivers for an MSI laptop onto a downgraded Gateway laptop because Gateway had no XP drivers, only for Vista).
I would not upgrade drivers though simply because newer drivers are available. I believe "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Thats the problem lol, I'm under the impression the drivers toshiba has for my 9700m GTS are waaaay, behind the curve. I think the driver version is like 7.14 or something.
