DVD drive messed up...

Hey, my DVD drive is supposedly perfectly fine according to "Manage Devices", however when I pop in a disc the green light flashs a few times then stops and doesnt read the disc, any suggestions?

i had this problem on mine last year. i run win 98se. goto your device mgr -double click on cdrom ,this will open it - right click on the drive thats not working -click on remove -restart your computer and let windows hardware wizard reinstall your drive.

Reinstalling the drive should solve the problem. I know its a rare problem, but it could possibly be the media you are putting in the drive. Is it a blank disc, or say an audio or software disc? From what I've read, some drives don't recognize every type of disc.

It isn't the type of disc, and what I did was Uninstall it. Restart. Used autodetect and re-installed it, yet it still doesn't work.
