hi i bought a dvd burner a while back from newegg and it used to work until it just broke down, so i then returned it and got a new one but it still will not be regcognized. ITS NOT EVEN RECOGNIZED WHEN I GO TO MY COMPUTER!!! i put in a disk the green light goes on and i hear something spinning but then it stops becoming green and nothing else happens, the disc i use works fine on my other computer but thats my parents and it wont work on mine.

Ok, do you know how to get into the BIOS to see if it's getting picked up in there?

Does it have an error code and a yellow ! in Device Manager? If so, try this.

Download CDgone, right click on the downloaded file and choose Extract All, then double-click on cdgone.reg Say "Yes" to the merge question and then reboot. See if the drives have returned. You may have to re-install CD burning applications, since they're the ones that tinker with the filter setting in the registry that caused the drives to disappear.
