DVD player buttons do not work on laptop - Please Help Me!

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Equium A110-252.
On the right hand side of the keyboard are buttons for use with the dvd drive. I have a play/pause, stop, forward and reverse buttons as well as a button that starts the dvd drive.
These no longer work.
There is also an internet button above them which does work.
I previously uninstalled XP for Windows 7 on but it didn't like the laptop so I reverted back to XP. I obviously haven't put the software back on but haven't got a clue what software i need or where to find it.
So I no longer have the ability to watch DVD's on the laptop :(
Please help so I can get these buttons back up and running.

 - Yes I am!

Did you use a CD from Toshiba for this model, to reinstall XP?
If NOT, then you need to go to Toshiba and get all of the required drivers and software for this machine.
