I have put a sony dvd-rom DDU1611 player in a athlon 900 with a gigabyte GA-7ZX M/B and windows ME , and have it loaded with Power DVD software but cant seem to get it working with a DVD . It runs CD's ok , but wont have a bar of DVD's .

I think it is a software problem , but it may be hardware , anyway hopefully there is some genius out there that can help me get this thing working as I have not had a dvd before and know little about them .

I forgot , when I put a dvd disk in I get this message:
Ddhelp has caused an error in WINMM.DLL Ddhelp will now close.
if you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer.

    :)

Update your sound and video drivers up to the most current.

Also uninstall and reinstall direct X.

Fixed the problem with an uninstall and install of the audio drivers , seems to work OK now without any problems
