Hey there, I am currently working with a Toshiba PSAA8C-0FH00E notebook with the matshita UJ-841S dvd-ram drive, a intel dual core 1.6 2050, and 1Gb of ram. Now, my problem is that it is rated for 8x dvd-r burning and when burning a dvd, I am only given the option to burn at 2x. I feel as though with what the machine is running, I should be able to acheive a bit better than 2x burning ? note that I am using 16x dvd-r's, and I have tried using different media and I acheive the same result. thanks

Look at the IDE channels in Device Manager and see if the DVD drive is running in PIO mode. The current mode should be DMA and NOT PIO.
