The light flashes it opens and closes and reads somethings more cd than dvd but something is wrong. It happen around the time I tried to install memory from wish.com or the windows media codec pack and adding parts to my computer. It also can be when I tried to install a Sitecom WIFI router. It is a Dell OptiPlex 755 SFF With Windows 10 Home and Linux Mint dual booted. 8 GB of Ram 160 GB HHD and 1 GB graphics card.

Okay, can you be more specific about what you mean by "something is wrong"? Does it read any discs at all and have them show up in Windows Explorer? If there's a light flashing, I would recommend you open up the box and check the SATA cable is secure. It looks like the power cable is, hence the flashing light, but it's possible you may have disconnected the SATA cable inadvertently when you tried to install memory. Make sure you check the SATA cable is secured properly to both the drive and the motherboard.

It reads CD but not with audio sound nor does it allow me to rip a cd. It don't read dvd or software at all. The drive shows up in file explorer.

Most drives use different lasers to read CDs or DVDs. To see if this is really a failed drive or just a problem with software/drivers, boot the system with a linux live dvd. If the sound, etc works under linux, you know the drive is OK. If you cannot boot the linux dvd or you have other problems, you know the drive has failed. CD/DVD burners are very cheap; usually less than $20 at the egg.
Use either linux Mint or Ubuntu for the task of booting the live disk.
