Ok so here's my problem (along with others).. but one of them is that when i put in a cd in my dvd rw drive on my notebook, it starts to hum and "sounds" like it is reading the cd/dvd, but all that happens is my notebook slows down and stops pretty much any other task. i try to view the cd/dvd in explorer and it pretty much freezes until i pop out the cd and it jumps and works fine. i have no idea what is going on here.. please help.

strangely when i look in explorer, the dvd rw drive actually shows up as two drives: dvdrw and dvd drive.. could this be part of the problem?

    specs are...

    Alienware Area 51m
    Pentium 4 3.4ghz
    1gb ram
    Dvd rw drive
    60gb 7200rpm hard drive
    Radeon 9700 128mb video card

    thx in advance
