I want to play a DVD Video on my XP. I have a Pioneer DVD Rom drive and a Creative CDRW.

I put the disc into the Pioneer drive and select Windows Media Player. I get a window that says I don't have the right decoder for this disc.

    What now?

What version of WMP are you using ? I believe the latest (Version 9) supportrs DVD playback - however its more common to use either Power DVD or Win DVD. You often get one of these bundled with a DVD player but they are not freeware unfortunately.

You might like to take a look here and see what other utilities are available :

Also if PowerDVD came with the drive, and it still does not play. Go to the PowerDVD site and dpwm;pad the updates for XP. I have it and needed to get them in order for it to work.

Also try downloading and installing the Nimo Codecs from the link below.
