i am using DVDit to author a video. i am setting up chapters in the menu. i would like the chapter to revert back to the menu once the chapter is completed. however the dvd continues to play right through to the next chapter without stopping. when setting up my links to the chapter, i select the chapter and select link end action:return to menu. this does not seem to work. am i missing something or does this version of software not provide this feature? i am editing video on avid dv and the DVDit software was bundled with the avid software. i am encoding with sorenson squeeze 4.0.

my system is an HP pavilion zd8000 note book with 1 gig of ram and 80 gigs on the hard drive.

    i would appreciate your help.

    thanks

DVDit can only return to a menu at the end of a complete title, not at the end of a chapter point. So even if the Link End Action, Return to Menu checkbox were enabled, the video would play through all subsequent chapter points to the end before returning to the menu.

For this reason, when working with DVDit, to you would have to render each section separately to accomplish the desired navigation.

    Hope this helps....

"Rendering each section separate" means that you have individual video files that you will import into DVDit, as opposed to one long video that you go through and set chapter points through. You could use a utility like Virtual Dub to split a large file into separate smaller files that could then be imported individually.
