    Hi there!
I can't get a DVD to play in Windows Media Player and have downloaded a decoder and direct x thingy. I also configured the proxy....but still nothing plays. I have ME and have used the media player to play CDs but it won't play DVDs. I made sure all the drivers were updated. Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks so much,
    Diane

    Hello dianescott and welcome.

Install a player like PowerDVD and it should allow Media Player to play them. Windows Media Player is not a very good choice for watching DVD movies (or anything else) though; it would be much better to use a real DVD player program.

I think WMP is the best player I use, excepting maybe JetAudio.
Be that as it may, go to this page, scroll down the Codec Download column to MPEG2 patch and download and install it.
