I have a DVR connected to CCTV cameras that I would like to connect to my computer via Ethernet and a Netgear N150 router which also handles my broadband.

A program called VideoViewer is installed on the computer which works with the DVR to view images on the computer via ethernet.

Funny thing is that it works with a Zoom router, but not the Netgear

There must be settings on the Netgear that needs changing - any ideas please.....

Why do you suspect the Netgear router settings? What are the symptoms of the not working?

If I use the Zoom router, I can see the CCTV images via VideoViewer on the computer

There must be a setting on the Netgear that is blocking it ??

You could browse through the Netgear router manual and its configuration pages to find an applicable setting. I cannot imagine what it could be, but I have not read the user manual.

Are you connecting the DVR to the router by Wi-Fi? Ethernet?

Is the DVR using dynamic addressing? If so, does it get a good IP configuration from the Netgear?

Is the DVR using a static IP? If so, is it in the Netgear's subnet but not conflicting with any other device on the network?

The dvr can be set to DHCP or Static or PPPoE

It worked with Static on the Zoom Router.

    Static settings are

    IP 10.0.0.10
    Gateway 10.0.0.2
    Netmask 255.255.255.0
    Primary DNS 168.095.001.001
    Sec DNS 139.175.55.244

The simplest action would be to assign a proper (for the Netgear router) IP configuration or use dynamic addressing.

If you prefer to change the Netgear settings then change the LAN address and the Dhcp server address range to match the DVR's settings.

Thanks, etaf. Now that I see he already had all the help needed days before even starting this thread I'll certainly not waste any more time here.
