    Hi all!

I really don't know what is happening here. I have win 98 and downloaded the directx 9.0. But it doesn't works!

Then I tried to run dxdiag and received a message of error saying that that was a "Unicode version" that could only run under the win NT, telling me to use the "non unicode" dxdiag version for win 95 ou 98!

I tried also to re-install the directx 9.0, but the problem remains!

    Thanks!

(I don't if this information is relevant, but I discovered that i don t have the multimedia icon on my control panel. I do have a sound card - can listen to mp3 music - and a video card)

Where did you download DirectX from?

Try this download - its the full DirectX -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...DB-DCCE-43EA-87BB-7C7E1FD1EAA2&displaylang=en

Or try it from Windows Update -> Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Windows Update.

You can try uninstalling Directx using DirectX Buster, which I think you will have to do at this point. -> http://www.dxbuster.de/index_e.html and then reinstalling it again. If that fails, you may have to reinstall Directx 8.1b.

If you have Windows 98 First Edition, then you need to stay with DirectX 8(.0 I believe)

To bad DXBuster didn't work, It doesn't officially include DX9 support but has worked enough in the past to be able to install a previous version.

I think this one is only for XP but give it try.

If not try to reinstall it from the Microsoft link or try installing DX8 - theres a chance it might work if DX9 isn't fully installed.
