You can start by telling what it is that you want to do. What are the current computers specifications? What is your opinion of what's slow. What is your opinion of what you want to be faster? Simply asking how to make a computer faster is sorta like standing in a crowd and asking "why" without any further comment. A computer has a lot of hardware devices, software packages, etc. Any or all of which can combine to slow a system down.

Hi, Do you mean you want to buy or get her a different computer...or, do you want to reconfigure this one?

What version of Windows has it now, and what did it come with: AND> we can look this up for you so if you are not sure, just say so!

As was posted, we would have to know what she has in the pc now, as far as some basic specs like amount of hard drive space, system RAM memory, processor, and possibly the model of the motherboard. If you could, post the model of the eMachine, like eTower xxxx. or, Txxxx, W2040, etc.

There could be a hardware or heat problem, or it could simply be lack of maintenance such as cleaning up temp or Temp Internet Files.

HAS anyone, tech or otherwise, worked on this computer, or installed software or some upgrades to memory, etc to make it work better? Ask the daughter, she may have forgotten something.

EMachine has a support site, and it lists what the system came with, and I will help you do just that if you post the model number, that is right on the front of the machine, or on a tag on the back.

Regardless, they can all be set back to original factory settings, which is known as a fresh install....the CDs that came with the computer, or a hidden partition on the hard drive do this for you, it's not a big deal... HOWEVER>>>> if there are important files she needs such as schoolwork, you of course have to look and find out, you will need to save them to some sort of media like a CD or flash drive. You will need to record all her passwords, her Favorites if she has a lot of them she uses, and email that is needed and possibly more such as music, pics....make sure you get her help in finding all that stuff. Instant Message programs also do not always keep the list of buddies, this really gets the kids mad at you!
