    Hi all:

    Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but am desperate for a solution to my problem.

    My old PC recently died, but as my e-mails were backed up using http://www.outlook-express-backup.com/, I felt happy to know that I could import the saved files into my new PC. Sadly have found that the version I used doesnt support Windows 8, so I am worried that I have lost 9 yrs of e-mails.

    I have tried to contact the developers, but have not yet recieved a reply, so as a last chance thought I would ask here and see if anyone could help.

    While you cannot import the Outlook Express (OE) data into Win8's Mail app, you may be able to import the backed-up OE data (DBX files) into Windows Live Mail (2011 or 2012) as long as the backup set includes a file named FOLDERS.DBX. Assuming it does, proceed as follows:

    1. Download/install Windows [Live] Essentials 2012 via this page => http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/essentials-home

    See this link for more information, specifically the post by Pa Bear approx halfway down on page:

    Thank you C141 for your help.

    I will give this a try tomorrow, and hope this is the solution.

    Mods, please could you leave this as "unsolved" as may need to come back if I find it too tricky for my poor comp knowledge.
