My problem is that when I receive an e-mail with an attachment, the attachment is downloaded, but no paperclip icon appears, and the screen under the text message is blank, so the attachment is invisible. I know the attachment was downloaded because of the size of the file and the time of the download.
This problem first arose with Outlook Express 5.5, but has continued now that I have upgraded to IE6.
The messages are sent in plain text, so HTML is not the cause.
Have approached my local ISP and friends to no avail.
I can send e-mail attachments with no trouble.
I am running Windows98 Second Ed, with 128MB memory, 7.6GB hard drive.
You aare my last hope; please help!

Try going to view>layout>see if show preview pane header is checked.

In the meantime, you can press Ctrl+F3 to view the source.
