On December 18th 2011 the Vista Security 2012 virus appeared on my computer. I followed all the instructions on http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-vista-internet-security-2012 website to help me delete the virus. But now the virus comes back every 2-4 days. I thought that websites that had pop up's were the reason why I would get the virus but it seems that even if I avoid those websites I still get the virus.
My questions is: Would resetting my entire computer, wiping the memory to it's original factory settings, delete the virus permanently?
I am so frustrated with this right now. When I tried downloading the DDS, Norton came on and said it detected a virus therefore it deleted it. Then my computer froze. When I was downloading GMER my computer said that there was an error and to save the computer it had to restart itself. So both those programs will not work on my computer.

Can somebody please help me? I'm ready to punt this computer out of my window. :(

Also, when I start my computer several things pop up:
    WxUpdate-60031.exe
9 pop up's of Run DLL
Java Auto Uploader (I've hit continue on this but it doesn't do anything)

I don't know if this is related because my computer has been doing this for a while.

You have an outdated version of Vista. You should be on SP2 by now not Vista gold so you are several years behind with updates
I really think the most sensible option is to restore to factory setttings & then immediately update windows to SP1 & then SP2

Until that is done, you don't stand a chance of staying clean

We wouldn't be able to fix it on a Vista gold computer as the vulnerabilities in it will immediately let it reinstall

Ok, how do I restore my computer to factory settings and where do I find the SPI and SP2 to install?
And by restoring my computer everything is going to be deleted right? So I should back everything up...

you need to create the recovery discs as shown here
    http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/...DGEARTICLES_1_1&docType=kc&externalId=C397781

or you might be able to use the vaio recovery wizard on the start menu to restore to factory settings without creating discs

To access the VAIO Recovery Wizard using the F10 Key
    1. Turn off your computer.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. When the VAIO logo appears on the computer's screen, briefly press the F10 key on the computer keyboard.
    The VAIO Recovery Wizard appears.
    4. Click Next.
    5. Select one of the available menu options.

Afterward, where do I find the SP1 and SP2?
Will the Vista Home Security virus be removed forever or do I need to install more things?

once you have reset to factory settings, the virus will be completely removed
you get the SP1 & SP2 from windows update & it should be automatically offered to you once you visit it
