EEErrr, thanx but now i got a new problem!

    OK thanx for that mate, but now i have a greater probalem, i installed windows 98 along side XP and then proceeded to format the hard drive, all went well up-until i tried to reintall windows 98, im at the dos prompt and the Laptop wont recognise the CD drive?! Any ideas fellas? PLEASE?

    Correct me someone if I am wrong, but I think if you have a Win98 boot disk it would have cd-rom support and would recognize your cd-rom.

    yeah i thought that, but as i say im sitting at the computer, at a dos prompt and cannot access the d drive, any ideas im stummped!

    try putting the Win98 boot disk in and restarting your computer.

    If you had Windows XP installed, did you format the drive for NTFS? If so, that drive is not recognized under DOS. Try booting with your boot disk and typing C:\ to get to your CD-ROM drive.

    Check to see that the boot disk is actually assigning d as the cd-rom drive number. I downloaded one off of the net recently and it assigned the cd-rom to R instead of D

    Managed to sort it our anyway guys, DOS wouldn't regognise the CD drive but if i held c while booting it would, strange, found out now tho that the laptop is only compatible with XP! NIghtmare, but thanx anyway! :p
