How can an electric motor be made into a generator?

Basically by working it in reverse...

A motor accepts electric current, which ultimately causes a shaft to rotate.

If you remove the electric current, and instead attach a load (light bulb or voltmeter) and rotate the shaft by some other force (wind, gas motor, etc) it will convert that force into electricity.

Basically, a motor converts electrical energy into mechanical motion, an electric generator converts mechanical motion into electrical energy.

So basically, if I have a 12 Volt, 100 amp, 4000rpm motor and turn the shaft at 4000 rpm, the end result would be that I would produce 100 amps at 12 Volts without any modifications to the motor?
