Hi guys. I just subscribed actually so truly I have no idea how to do anything. English is def not my first language and that's not helping either.
I was searching for some solutions about run dll on the net cause I seem to have that problem on my pc, somewhere. I found this forum. I read about another poster's problem but I have no idea if it's simillar to mine. Em, well I think I have sound problems, I try to install a new game or something and usually it's taking me ages and some spells to make it work. Sigh. I have no idea what's the problem, I have no problem with the sounds in general, just the games, but i can't say I do anything else than listening to my mp3s. So still, I wouldn't know. Besides that I can't record anything anymore from the option given by windows. I read at that post something about Nvidia's dll. Well, I have nvidia so I guess this has something to do with it. But I didn't quite get that. I'm sorry I'm totally clueless. All I know is that I have run dll probably at my start menu (usually I press ctrl+alt+del and I shut dll down) and that something is happening somewhere that makes my sound "properties" seem wrong. I am sure I'm using the wrong word but I can't think of any other. Sorry. Other games play alright but I do have this sound problem quite frequently.
I have no idea what to do or what *I* have done to my pc. Any chance in the world that someone can tell me what is this I have to search for and fix? And more importantly.. how??? At this thread I read someone gave an adress that had something like a test... so that the guy with the problem could get an idea about his start up menu. Em... that's all I guess.
Oh Christ... this is embarrasing. Sigh... Am I at least in the right forum??? Help...

Welcome to TSG, Snowdrop. I'm not sure if you posted in the right forum for the problems you describe, but first lets take a look at your startup configuration and have you do a virus scan. Then if nothing looks amiss we'll move you to a better forum for further follow-up.

Having rundll in your running tasks is not necessarily an issue as it is used by legitmate tasks, possibly one of your nvidia files or a display settings interface.

First, get the HijackThis application and follow directions for posting the startuplist (not the scan log):

    http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/

Next do an online Antivirus scan using HouseCall and let us know how that goes.

Well I don't know if this is going to help your audio problems when playing games, but you do have some notorious spy and "foist" ware installs (New.net, Promulgate). In this forum we'll get you cleaned up there and then you should post as clear a description of your audio problems either in the games forum if it is specific to a particular game or in the Operating System forum> Win98, if it is more general in nature.

For now, do this: download, install and update Spybot following the directions here:

    http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

BEFORE actually running it, go to Add/Remove programs and find the entry for NEW.NET and remove that and REBOOT afterwards.

Then run Spybot and have it 'fix' all the prechecked entries (just accept the defaults). Reboot afterwards and this time post a copy of the HijackThis SCAN log (this is different from the StartupList). Do not do anything else with the SCAN log other than give us the post of it. We'll tell you what further to do when we see it.

Oh, by the way, those virus's you posted were not on your machine, I'm not sure where you got that from, but it just looks like a partial list of what they look for. It doesn't actually look like you ran the HouseCall scan or I'd be seeing their activex module in your Downloaded Programs folder.

And just for the record, can you provide some info on what this is?

Em... I don't have them??? YAY!!!
    But I have that... sigh...
    JS NOCLOSE.E
Non cleanable it says on the scan result
    and it's located
    C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\JHIJ5UYZ\exitpoplight[1].htm

I read what it says it is. Well it said non destructive I think...But i def don't know how to remove it, if I can.
For the claudio thing...... I have NO idea. I can't even find the path it says. I don't have a folder dlds. I don't have the path in general. I honestly have no idea where it is but it's not where it should be. How in the world can this be possible? Why can't I find it?

And.. em... I'm sorry I know it's pathetic.... but .... em, what exactly is reboot??? If it's not shutting down the pc I have no clue. None.
And what is the entry for New.net.... or any entry at all? I mean where do I find this? I'm sorry, I have greek windows... It doesn't say much in english.

Well... can't do much without knowing what they are I guess.

Thank you... I'm sorry I'm indeed clueless. :(

Ok, there is hope, I'm not that stupid. Found the entry, New.net Domains 4.80. I feel better about myself now. And I learned what's an entry...
The reboot remains a puzzle though to me.

I'll just pop in here for a second. A reboot is when you restart your pc........using: Start>Shut Down>Restart (make sure this option is checked)
    Hope this helps.

    Hee! Oook, thank you Kepiano.
Yep, it makes sense now. Cool. I just didn't know the word reboot and it's not in my dictionary, of course.
I'm off to fight the devils that are located on my pc. *Armor on*.
    Thanks.

The js/noclose bugger is located in your Temporary Internet Files. You should be able to get rid of it by deleteting those through Internet Options > Temporar Internet Files > Delete Files.

If you used a virus scanner to detect it, you can just instruct it to delete the file.

Well, I installed Spybot and I dlded all the updates besides the optional skins. However I can't download one that says Includes. It starts dlding but right about when it should finish it stops and it says "bad checksum" I've tried 3 times already. No can do.
How bad is this and can I go further without it or not?

Did you first remove newdot.net through add/remove programs?

If not go to start\settings\control panel
then open add/remove programs and scroll down to newdot.net
click the add/remove button and follow any instructions if given.

Run spybot without the includes updates as it may remove what is stopping the download. Then go back and see if you can get the updates.

If that doesn't take care of it there is another program that basicly does the same called adaware. You can download from here.

    Quote from your list.
    "Autorun entries from Registry:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    CLAUDIO = D:\DLDS\VOICE\CLAUDIO 3.0\Claudio.exe "

As for the above if your D: is your cd-rom then this file is actually on one of your cd's. Possible the one that came with your computer that has your sound drivers on it.

Ooook, I did it. Heheheh. In the right way I hope...
    Thank you jm100dm. :D
I still can't download the includes update though. Still says bad checksum. Sigh...
I run Spybot though, it found some, it deleted them, I rebooted (twice cause the first time it couldn't delete a promul gate thing). And I did the scan thing with Hijack This.

    Yep, all these. *cold sweat*
Well... the d: is not my cdrom. That's e and f. The d is em... we splitted the hard disk into two. So the first one is c and the second one - the larger - is d. It's where I keep everything from internet, mp3s, programs and things like that just in case I could avoid totally destroying the pc after a bad case scenario. Or at least that's what the guy that did it told me. Still though, I don't have a folder under the name dlds. I have a Tori dlds but it only has 9 mp3s in it. Nothing else. I even searched for it in both disks but no. No such thing. I have no idea what's that guys, none.
Em... can someone give me an idea of why I can't dowload the include update and what does bad checksum mean?
Ah, and I have adaware, I don't know if I'm using it correctly but it wasn't showing all these things jm100dm. I'm probably doing something wrong with it too. :( Heh, what's new.

So.... what do I do now??? Em.... and can you guys give me some additional info for everything you tell me so that I could possibly get what IS my pc and what I'm doing to it? I may as well end up treating it in a more gentle way. (But i won't stop dlding mp3's!)

Have I mentioned how grateful I am? Well I am, a LOT. Thank you all so much. :D

    Oh.... and right here

    O3 - Toolbar: &Ñáäéüöùíï - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSDXM.OCX

the word after the toolbar: means &radio. I don't know what you see in it, but it clearly says radio in greek to me.
