It would be nice if you'd give us a bit more to go on.

What email service did you log in to?

Are you saying as soon as you logged in the letter appeared on your screen and you could read it?

What program was used to create this letter?

Where was the letter saved? In other words where was the folder it was in located?

Also, what operating system are you running?

i use yahoo email. i signed into my yahoo account, clicked on email and saw the letter on my screen and i could read it. it was just an email that i had sent to an attorney with info he asked for. It was not a document. the letter was saved in a special folder called "new chapter". i am a senior citizen so i am using windows 7 because i don't like 10.

Change your email password now. Make it long ( 16+ characters ) and use upper and lower case, numbers and symbols. Write it down on paper somewhere, but not in a computer file. To make an easy to remember one, think of a phrase and use the first character of each word.

Where was this "New Chapter" folder located?

Is it a sub-folder in your Inbox?

How long has it been since you accessed this email (weeks, months, years)?

It is possible something nefarious is going on but it could also be user error.

I would start by changing the password as Lunarlander suggested and then checking your recent activity to see if there are any unfamiliar logins to your account:
