check your property options & see if its setup for HTML or text now
go to edit/preferences & click on (+) at Mail & Newsgroups & then on formatting in Netscape messenger mail

also if you are importing mail there from Outlook Express you need to check under tools/options for the same settings

Well...I read all of those and everything is set as it was and it it says...I wonder if the files somehow became disassociated? I note that JPEG and GIF files use Netscape (internal)...I can't imagine all of the backgounds I have becoming messed up like that, but...?

What if I reintall (over itself) Netscape and the Files in the Backgrounds folder? Other than that, maybe it's a glitch (temporary, I'd hope) in Netscape Messenger?

Interesting that others have encountered this as well.

Any other ideas/suggestions? I really appreciate all you've done thus far...maybe it'll magically reappear?

I find that GIF files seem to work better than JPEGs or any other, but it's a crap shoot...besides, email is supposed to be quick and informul (like no spel chek?). eh?
