I am currently in the process of designing a transcription business. In the process that I am looking at, a client dictates into a P.C. based application which records a WAV file. The software in turn transfers the WAV file to an FTP site on an FTP server. At a later time a transcriptionist transfers the WAV file from the FTP site into a transcription software program.

The question I have is how can I accomplish this WAV file transfer in a secured manner? Are there encryption utilities that are automated that would accomplish this? Is there possibly secured servers out there where I would not have to encrypt my WAV file?

Hiya and Welcome

I don't know about any actual secure servers, but you could encrypt the .wav before you send it. The best program, and its free, is PGP http://www.pgpi.org/
Takes a while to get used to it. You have to create a key which if you lose, you can forget about the program being opened. Aslo, you can send a public key over the web to someone who has to have PGP on their system, but with a correct key. You can also triple encypt.

This is some blurb on it
