Not sure whether this is a hardware of a operating system issue, but I have installed an old hard drive from a machine which fell over & died on me into another PC. I need to pull documents and emails off the hard drive before I throw it out.

I have got stuck in an endless loop. The PC boots up, shows the "We apologise, Windows didn't start properly" blah, blah, blah message. It gives me the boot options for safe mode etc. I have tried to get on using every one of the available options - safe mode, last known good configuration etc. However, it loops endlessly back to the same "We apologise" screen. It appears to briefly start to drop to another screen when it goes through the cycle but never manages to actually get out of the loop.

Any advice on how I can break the cycle and access the hard drive would be appreciated. It is an old hard drive - Qantum Fireball CRB and has really seen better days, but I just need to get access to it for an hour or so. It runs Win XP I believe.

    Thanks all

    Angie
