For some reason and without any change that I made that
I am aware of, when I print envelopes in Word Version 7.0,
the print comes out in red and not black. I have a
Lexmark Z53 printer. I have made sure the font color the color
in the Format pulldown menu under Font is black. What suggestions are there to get the address on the envelopes
    to print in black?

you have a color printer - is the default setting color or b/w?

in the pulldown for the envelopes, there's an options tab, are the colors set properly in there ?
    - i think that setting will override the format, font setting

btw - haven't you ever heard of a red letter day?? :)

let us know if either one works for you

    hmmm
perhaps the resident word lady (aka dreamboat) will have some other ideas when she sees this tomorrow.

in the meantime - the simplest solution is to tell the printer to print in black/greyscale in the print properties
    - then it should not print in red

if it does, there's other probs

    Tools> Envelopes and Labels>Envelope Options> Font.
Did you check this one too to make sure that it is set to black?

You guys have pretty much covered what I would have covered. Only thing is the printer possibly out of black ink?

I'd like to suggest, however, creating yourself an envelope template. I hate the envelope *feature* in Word, so I just create myself a new document:

Paper Size: Com10 or envelope / Landscape
    Margins
    Top: 2" (or more)
    Left: 4" (or more)
    Bottom: .5
    Right: .5
    Set fonts as desired.

Save this file AS A TEMPLATE called envelope. Close it. Next time and any time you want an envelope, hit File-New, choose envelope. Type your envelope. Hit ctrl-enter to create a new envelope in which to type. Print, don't save the file....
