    Hi Guys & Gals.
I have a Epson Perfection 3170 Scanner which is giving uneven light when scanning medium format (6 X 6) negatives and slides. The result is a dark band down the middle of the scanned image.I have been on to Epson who tell me that it is a unit fault and that the light unit is failing. They tell me that it is a sealed unit and not replaceable, and no longer available as a spare. has anyone come across this problem, and can anyone (pretty please) offer any suggestions, the Epson suggestion, surprise, is a new scanner at 179.99 GBP!
A way of providing an alternative replacement light unit, or a work around would be welcomed.
    many thanks,
