Okay - Here is my problem. My fiancee was playing Everquest and she had to search the web - EQ used to not be able to go into a window format - but in the latest patch they made it so it could, by pressing either ALT+Tab or ALT+enter. Everything was working fine until she tried to reopen the EQ window. It froze and gave an error message as followed from the Error details box:

EQGAME caused an invalid page fault in
    module EQGFX_DX8.DLL at 0167:1006c3e8.

Friends have told me to Uninstal EQ and try it again - which I did and It still didn't work, I tried updatinf graphic drivers which someone said might work, it didn't. I also Unstalled the new Directx9, just incase it was that - nope. I even tried RegClean and that didn't work!! I'm frazzled and I need help!!

what kind of video card are you running? is it made by nvidia? ati? etc...

from looking at your error message im pretty sure i know what the problem is? im assuming that you are running direct x 9

    go here http://www.oldversion.com/download.php?idlong=650c09cf6920188807fc67bbeff4b6b8
and that will download direct x 8.1b
after you do that uninstall direct x 9 (i have heard it is buggy and everquest won't perform anybetter under it, it only uses direct x 7)
then install the direct x 8.1 that you downloaded

if you need any help go ahead and repost or you can email me at [email protected]

Running a Voodoo 3 as the card - but I'll try that and see if it all works!

I did everything you said and still no go at all. The3 same error is stated again. I really hope I don;t have to reformat the drive.. that's the least I want to do...

The only other thing I can think of is to go to www.voodoofiles.com
and download the latest drivers for the voodoo 3.

If that doesn't work you may have to reformat your harddrive.... I know it sounds kinda harsh, but I can't think of much else. (although I personally reformat about once a month to keep everything nice and clean)

With that being said, I would recomend buying a new video card, probably from nvidia, seeing as how 3dfx, the people who made the voodoo cards, is out of business. From looking at your error message I am 99% sure it is something to do with the video card, and voodoo cards have been knows to have issues with newer games as there is no offical support for the card.

Hope you are able to get your problem solved.
