I can't use the keys 6, 7, y, u, h, j, n, or m. I'm sure I've just accidentally touched a combination of keys to make this happen. Please would you let me know the key combination to re-enable them. This is very urgent as I have 2 uni assignments due this week and need my computer to finish them.

it may be the numlock key - have look at the keys do they have a little number in a different colour on - the 6YHN keys are not usually part of the numlock - but that may change with different makes and models
the numlock will be on the top right hand side of the keyboard and may need to be used in combination with the FN key - bottom left

post back the make and exact model of the machine - if thats NOT it

There is no num-lock key on my notebook keypad, and I don't know what the key combination si for it.

    I have a Dell Studio XPS 1645.

The laptop almost certainly has a num lock feature. I have yet to see one that doesn't.

Thanks for all the info. I still don't know how to turn on/off the num lock. None of the documentation tells me how to do this. I know there should be a combination to do this and hopefully Dell Support will get back to me soon and let me know. It would be good if they had left the green characters on the keys on this model. My last Dell laptop had them, but this backlit keypad does not. Fortunately I turned on my pc this morning and all the keys are working. There must be an auto reset built in to reset to the normal keypad after a time period has expired. Thanks again.
