erratic mouse pointer movements

    my mousepointer keeps playing up. it moves in jerks, doesn't go where i want it to. i have to restart my computer to get it right. currently using logitec cordless wheel mouse via usb but had same problem with standard mouse port mouse. help wanted please.

    A few things possible.

    First thing that occurs to me though is a software problem.

    Boot in Safe Mode and see how the mouse acts.

    Is this Win 98 / ME / 95?

    I'm using ME and it's a cordless Logitech Wheel mouse.

    Have you had any luck fixing your problem? I just purchased a new MS Trackball Optical and the cursor movement is way to choopy.
