Operating WindowsXp Home with Pentuim 4, CPU 2.80 GHz and 512 MB ram.

Within the last three months have experienced occasional erratic mouse, video and audio.

Rebooting will make the problem disappear.

    Any suggestions?
    Regards
    Don

If you have the Operating System on CD you could try a Repair install...or you could try this

Try this click Start>>Run type cmd click Ok.

In the Command Prompt type chkdsk /r click Enter

You will be asked if you want a check disk to run on next startup click Y and then press Enter

    Restart your PC

It will run in 5 sections please do not interrupt it let it finish.

After completing chkdsk the system seemed to be more stable. However this morning the erratic nature of the problem has appeared again. Rebooting eliminates the problem, at least for the moment.

I decided to run the Recovery disc that came with the computer. It is ALC CD Media supported by AOpen.

This has compounded the problems as the computer now runs very slowly and it took me a while to find the task bar and the Start menu.

An error message comes up :
    ww.Disp.exe (window title)
exception message: The RPC Server is unavailable
    EOIeSysError.

As it stands now the there appears to be a conflict somewhere as the the computer takes about four minutes to load.

    Regards
    Don
