I'm using Windows XP Pro.

A few weeks ago I tried installing new ATI video drivers and got the message that I needed to be logged on as Administrator when I tried opening the ATI Control Centre.

In the Registry Editor I cannot add or change any entries, getting the message "Cannot import E:\Blah\Blah\Blah.reg: Error accessing the registry."

This user account has administrator rights.

I restarted my computer in safemode, logged on as Administrator and still get the same error message when trying to add entries to the registry.

I have run PC-cillin, Spy Sweeper, and HijackThis; PC-cillin and Spy Sweeper haven't picked anything up.

Below is my HijackThis log (I don't know whats normal and what's not):

not really -
boot in safe mode and try?
post an example of what you're trying to import / export?

I have tried in safe mode and get the same error.

Attempting to import any .reg file results in the error.

I get the same issue - even though I have admin rights on the pc - In addition to this error I cannot restore my PC to a previous 'restore point'.

Did you get anywhere with sorting it out?
