not sure what this error is. I have a friends laptop, which she had me install a new harddrive on, so i had to reinstall windows XP. It has been almost 2 months since I got it, and I am giving it back to her tomorrow, so i decided to load it up and make sure it was working properly.

When I started it up, it goes to the welcome screen, and has a blank error box. It has the caution logo in the upper left corner, and has a yes box and a no box. whichever one i click, it continues to start the laptop. It seems to work fine, I am just wondering if anyone knows what this is? I checked msconfig, and there is nothing unusual in the startup section, so I am clueless as to what it is.

ok, this problem seems to have persisted even further now. I brought it back to her, and now it goes to the welcome screen, gives the blank error massage, and has the yes or no boxes. no matter which one i click, it shows her desktop, then goes back to the blue screen, and says logging off, then back to welcome with the error message again. anyone know what is wrong with it? it was working fine 2 weeks ago, the last time i used it.

A virus or spyware would be my guess.
