    Hi,

One of my computers has an error message that comes up that tells me that "a problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer" Now my desktop icons do not appear on the screen and I cannot use the computer. I think it has something to do with a virus but I'm not sure. What can I do? I've tried using my Windows Home Edition CD to reformat but it appears that the computer is not reading the CD so I can't do a reformat. It allows me to go into "safe mode" but I can't get access to any of my files and I can't do a "system restore" while in safe mode.

What can I do to get my computer back?

This problem occurs because the drive letter has changed.

Did you enter your BIOS and change the boot order to boot from CD first?

I wasn't told to do that so I would not have known to do this first

Set it to boot from CD first then follow the directions to boot into the Recovery Console. Then try to do the fixmbr command.
Sorry, I forgot to post a link to directions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307654
