Forget about Hijackthis for now. Did you run IE repair from control panel? Did you run spybot/adaware?

YIKES!!! This is going to take some time to go thru.

In the mean time go to control panel > add/remove programs and remove new.net

Next, Download LSPfix here: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
Launch the application, and click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox.

In Hijack This, check ALL of the following items. Double check so as to be sure not to miss a single one.
Next, close all browser Windows, and have HT fix all checked.

Reboot into normal mode

Now download Spybot - Search & Destroy (if you haven't got the program installed already)

After installing, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove/fix all it finds that are in RED

Reboot

Last, run HJT again and post your log again to see if anything was missed.

Thanks

Yes they can. But I guess being from the 'old school', I like to see everything that we are dealing with first. As you know, very often, one thing can lead you to another. If that first thing is gone, it makes things a little harder.

Yes, I'm from old school too ;)

I guess it's just personal preference. I'd rather have spybot/adaware do what they were designed for, and then if there is still any problem, run the hijackthis diagnostic program.

That main and only important thing is that people are helped with their different situations ;)

I suppose that it would be an interesting question to pose to those that go thru the HJT logs. Do they want to see the log before or after SpyBot and/or Ad-Aware is/are run, and why?
